La tunique est l'élément le plus important du costume. On remarque sur le peu de pièces archéologiques que nous avons, que les tuniques étaient faites avec un certain soin même pour les paysans/artisans. L'objectif étant de créer une base de recherche objective, permettant de commencer ses recherches sur le costume au XIIIe siècle. Ces articles permettent de centraliser les sources disponibles autour d'un sujet en particulier, pour pouvoir ensuite les reproduire ou approfondir ses recherches.

The tunic is the most important element of the costume. From the few archaeological finds we have, we can see that tunics were made with a certain care even for peasants/craftsmen. The aim is to create an objective research base, allowing one to start researching costume in the 13th century. These articles make it possible to centralise the available sources on a particular subject, so that one can then reproduce them or carry out further research.

In the 13th century, different types of collars exist for male gowns. Rarely mentioned in period literature (besides mentioning the presence of an amigaut or brooch1), they are vastly more often represented on miniatures and statues. One can mainly define 5 different types of collars for the 13th century. There are however some particular cases (either due to a not explainable functioning or just too few remaining examples) which will be discussed at the end of the paper.
